We hold regular bi-monthly film nights in the village hall. There is a small charge to cover the cost of the room hire and refreshments. We serve coffee or tea with a Danish pastry but you are welcome to bring your own drinks, nibbles and comfy chair or cushion.
Quiz evenings take place a couple of times a year in the village hall. With up to six members in a team it is open to anyone who wishes to come along. A light supper is served and you are invited to bring your own liquid refreshments.
Talks and Suppers
In the past there have been a number of talks from Shirley Ball about Stoneleigh and she shares with us her photographs and memories of the village where she grew up. Sheila Woolf chairman of the Stoneleigh History Society has provided us with a very entertaining evening telling us about the novelist Jane Austen and her link with Stoneleigh village and the Abbey. These events raise much needed funds for the church projects.
The Stoneleigh History Society holds an annual exhibition in the Leigh Chapel which is launched in the church in May each year.
Village Coffee Morning
The church supports the village coffee morning run in the Village Club on the third Tuesday of each month except August. This was started by the WI about 5 years ago.
The church is a great venue to host a concert as it seats a large number of people and has good acoustics in the body of the building. It has hosted local choirs, in particular the Stoneleigh Ladies Choir and the Stoneleigh Male Voice Choir along with from further afield a visiting Welsh choir. We have held organ recitals, Jazz Concerts and more recently the ‘Immanuel’s Ground Quire’ which was an evening with a difference. Most of these events have raised a large sum of money for church funds or local charities.
