Praying

As Christians, we believe prayer is an important part of our faith.  Through prayer we enter into a personal relationship with God.  At St Mary’s we offer different ways to pray and access prayer as we acknowledge everyone is an individual and needs to feel comfortable.

If you would like to find out more, speak to the Vicar or a member of the team, please contact us

AS A SMALL GROUP

We pray as a small group on Thursdays from 9:30 – 10 am in the church. We use a simple printed liturgy (on a leaflet) with some time for praying using our own words or in silence.  This is a hugely valued time by those who come.  We pray for world issues, the church and its outreach, prayer requests written in the prayer book at the back of the church, and for people known to us personally.

PRAYER RESOURCES AND PRAYER BOOK

On the Prayer Table at the back of the church you will find a book in which you can write your prayer requests; this is referred to at our Thursday Prayers.  You will also find resources you are welcome to take to help you to pray.

WITHIN THE SERVICE

On Sundays the person who is leading the prayers invites you to tell us the names of anyone you would like to be prayed for as part of the service.

PRAYER WALK

If you are able to visit the church, which is open daily 10am-4pm, you may like to follow the prayer walk as you explore the building. A copy of this can be found in the resources at the back of the church.
